People and the built environment – architectural photography exhibition

The relationship between people and the built environment is an interest I share with photographer Jason Oddy so I was delighted to visit his exhibition Concrete Spring at Smiths Row Gallery. You have until 16th March to catch the exhibition which features images taken by Oddy as part of an investigation of the influential Brazilian Architect Oscar Niemeye. Niemeye was commissioned by the the President of Algeria in a time a great optimism and the exhibition beautifully captures the blend of aspiration and state power which is evident in the almost brutalist architecture.
