Ancient & Modern
Most of my work involves photographing newly completed buildings so a recent commission to photograph buildings completed up to 800 years ago presented something of a refreshing change. One of the strengths of Nicholas Jacob Architects is its sensitively executed work in heritage settings so the practice has an expanding portfolio of church re-ordering projects. The practice wanted some images to represent the work it does in these settings.
Although I get to photograph many lovely buildings, very few are Grade 1 listed so this project was a rare treat. One of the best aspects was the shear quality of the materials used in the construction which certainly gives a helping hand to the photographer.
