Architect designed homes from containers – an answer for more than Felixstowe?

Felixstowe in Suffolk is the largest container port in the UK and among the six largest in Europe. As a consequence we locals are all too familiar with those big metal boxes trailing along the A12 and A14 and know well the giant stacks that dominate the port area that in turn dominates the seaside town of Felixstowe.

The article below from Design Milk (follow the link)  shows the humble container in a refreshing new way with strong design values. That is something that I think could have a place in Felixstowe. Perhaps a competition sponsored by the port and the many shipping companies in the area  and who knows, maybe we could find a partial sustainable solution to pressing need for affordable housing using strong design.
